Refund & Returns Policy

Last Updated: July 2026

At The House of Curatora, each artwork is produced individually after an order is placed. As our products are not held as finished inventory, please review the selected artwork, dimensions, orientation, print material, shipping address, and all product information carefully before completing your purchase.

This policy does not limit any mandatory consumer rights available under the laws applicable to your purchase.

Made-to-Order Products

All products sold by The House of Curatora are made to order using the artwork, size, orientation, and print material selected by the customer.

Unless otherwise required by applicable consumer law, we do not accept complimentary returns, exchanges, replacements, or refunds solely because of:

  • A change of mind
  • An accidental purchase
  • An incorrect size or material selection
  • An incorrect shipping address provided by the customer
  • The artwork not matching existing furniture, wall colors, or room decor
  • A personal preference for a lighter, darker, warmer, cooler, or more saturated appearance
  • A customer deciding that they no longer like or require the product after delivery

Customers are responsible for reviewing all product details and measurements before placing an order.

Color, Display, Lighting, and Material Variations

We carefully prepare our product images to provide a faithful visual representation of each artwork. However, a digital screen cannot provide an exact physical color proof.

Minor differences in color and appearance may occur due to factors including:

  • Screen calibration, brightness, contrast, and display settings
  • Differences between phones, tablets, laptops, and monitors
  • Browser and device color profiles
  • Natural and artificial room lighting
  • Reflections and surrounding wall colors
  • The selected print material and surface finish
  • Normal professional print-production tolerances
  • Production equipment and material-batch variations

A backlit digital screen produces light, while a physical artwork reflects the light present in its environment. The physical print may therefore appear warmer, cooler, lighter, darker, softer, or less luminous under certain viewing conditions.

Different print materials also produce naturally different visual results:

  • Canvas prints generally present a softer, textured, and more matte appearance.
  • Acrylic prints may appear more luminous, glossy, and saturated.
  • Metal prints may react more strongly to surrounding light and reflections.
  • Museum matte posters offer a refined, non-reflective finish and may present tones more softly than a digital screen.

Minor and commercially reasonable variations in warmth, brightness, contrast, saturation, tonal balance, texture, or finish are not considered damage, a defect, or a misprint by themselves.

However, if the received artwork appears to contain an abnormal color cast, visible printing fault, severe tonal deviation, banding, physical damage, or another substantial difference from the product listing, please contact us so that the matter can be reviewed.

Product Images and Room Mockups

Room scenes, lifestyle images, framed previews, and interior mockups are provided for styling and presentation purposes.

Unless expressly stated otherwise:

  • Frames, furniture, lighting, and decorative objects are not included.
  • The visual scale of the artwork within a room mockup is approximate.
  • Surrounding wall colors and lighting may affect the perceived appearance of the artwork.
  • Customers should rely on the stated product dimensions rather than the apparent scale within a mockup.

Where an artwork is offered in multiple sizes or aspect ratios, minor composition or cropping adjustments may occur to fit the selected format while preserving the principal subject and overall character of the artwork.

Damaged, Defective, Misprinted, or Incorrect Items

We are committed to delivering artwork that meets professional production standards.

Please contact us if your order arrives:

  • Damaged during transit
  • Defective
  • Incorrectly produced
  • Visibly misprinted
  • Substantially different from the ordered product
  • In the wrong size, orientation, or print material
  • With an apparent production-related color issue outside reasonable printing tolerances

Where reasonably possible, please contact us within 14 days of delivery. This reporting period helps us investigate the issue promptly with our production and shipping partners but does not limit any mandatory rights available under applicable consumer law.

Evidence Required for a Claim

To assess a damaged, defective, incorrect, or color-related claim, we may request:

  • The order number
  • A clear photograph of the complete artwork
  • Close-up photographs of the reported issue
  • Photographs taken in indirect natural daylight
  • Photographs taken without filters or image editing
  • Photographs of the exterior and interior packaging
  • A photograph of the shipping or production label
  • Any additional information reasonably required to evaluate the claim

For color-related claims, photographs taken under strongly yellow, warm, colored, or dim artificial lighting may not provide a reliable basis for evaluation. We may therefore request additional photographs taken near a window in indirect natural daylight.

Please retain the artwork, packaging, and labels until the claim has been reviewed.

Claim Assessment

Each claim will be reviewed individually by considering:

  • The product images and description shown at the time of purchase
  • The artwork, size, and material selected by the customer
  • The photographs and evidence provided
  • The effect of lighting and display conditions
  • The natural characteristics of the selected print material
  • Reasonable professional print-production tolerances
  • Whether the issue is minor, substantial, or production-related

The House of Curatora and its production partner may assess the product before providing a remedy.

A personal preference for a different color balance or appearance is not, by itself, evidence that the product is defective or incorrectly produced.

Available Resolutions

If an item is confirmed to be damaged, defective, incorrectly produced, or materially inconsistent with the product description, an appropriate resolution will be provided in accordance with the circumstances and applicable law.

Depending on the nature of the issue, the resolution may include:

  • A replacement product at no additional cost
  • A reprint of the affected artwork
  • A partial refund where appropriate
  • A full refund where appropriate

Where a replacement or reprint provides an appropriate resolution, a refund may not be issued unless otherwise required by applicable law.

Lost Packages

If tracking information indicates that a package may be lost, please contact us.

We will investigate the shipment with the carrier and our fulfillment partner. Where the package is confirmed as lost, an appropriate resolution may include a replacement shipment or refund.

Packages marked as delivered by the carrier may require additional investigation. Customers may be asked to check with household members, neighbors, building reception, local delivery offices, or the carrier.

Returned-to-Sender Orders

Orders returned to the sender because of:

  • Incorrect or incomplete shipping information
  • Failure to collect the package
  • Repeated unsuccessful delivery attempts
  • Refused delivery
  • Failure to respond to the carrier

may be reshipped at the customer’s expense.

Original and additional shipping charges may be non-refundable where the return resulted from customer-provided information, refusal, or failure to collect the shipment, except where otherwise required by applicable law.

Order Changes and Cancellations

Production may begin shortly after an order is placed.

Cancellation or modification requests can only be accommodated when received before production begins. Once production has started, we may be unable to cancel or modify the order.

Submitting a cancellation request does not guarantee that production can be stopped.

Any mandatory cancellation or withdrawal rights available under applicable law remain unaffected.

Incorrect Shipping Address

Customers are responsible for providing a complete and accurate shipping address.

Please contact us immediately if an address correction is required. We cannot guarantee that an address can be changed after production or shipping has begun.

If an order is delivered to the address entered during checkout, lost because of an incorrect address, or returned to the sender, additional production and shipping charges may apply.

Refund Processing

Approved refunds will be issued through the original payment method.

After a refund has been approved and submitted, processing times may vary depending on the payment provider, card issuer, and financial institution.

Any currency conversion differences, international transaction charges, or bank fees applied by the customer’s financial institution are outside the control of The House of Curatora.

Mandatory Consumer Rights

Nothing in this policy excludes, restricts, or replaces any rights that cannot legally be excluded under applicable consumer-protection law.

Where mandatory local consumer law provides the customer with additional rights or remedies, those rights will apply.
